Robin has always loved exercise and its benefits. She has been certified in many areas of fitness including: step, kickboxing, yoga, spin, matflex, TRX, SilverSneakers, plyometrics, resistance training and stability ball. She loves to incorporate many of these into her clients' individual workouts. She believes exercise and proper diet can decrease many issues people face today such as weight gain, depression and stress. She loves running, reading, Bible study and spending time with her family.

Nursing, personal training and yoga certifications have molded me into a functional trainer that works to create a balanced body. By using weights, cardio, and yoga I help your body find its true center, a place that feels good and looks good. To do this you also must work on balancing the inner self. I believe that transforming the way you feel and think is the most important aspect of being fit. Working out becomes play time as we work through obstacles and tackle the negative ideas that keep you in the same unsuccessful patterns. Eating a balanced diet and working out will become a joyful experience.

Brenda Thorne

Administrative assistant and worker “B” at PurEnergy, Brenda adds her personal touch to daily operations. For over thirty years she helped run her family's business. Now she enjoys her relationship with the staff and members without the hassle of ownership.

The pursuit of a healthy active life style, initially led her to PurEnergy with its rigorous boot camps and fitness classes. It was a refreshing change of pace from the day to day responsibility of work and family. She and her husband got out of their business a few years back. After a couple years of retirement, and travel, Julie offered her a position as part time assistant. It sure made it easier to get in her daily workout.

She enjoys taking time off for travel, camping, fishing, and the great outdoors. A good book comes in handy when she runs out of pure energy.

I graduated from UNCG with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Kinesiology, and I'm a certified spinning instructor. I've been with PurEnergy since 2009, and I'm a personal trainer as well as a spinning and sculpt/strength instructor.

I love every aspect of health and wellness, yet I have a passion for strength training. I competed in my first Natural bodybuilding and fitness competition in June 2010, where I placed 2nd in bodybuilding and 3rd in figure, and I look forward to competing in more fitness shows in the near future.

Outside of fitness I enjoy the mountains, the beach and spending time with my family in Gastonia, NC!

Lisa Amani

Lisa Amani has been working full time as a certified yoga instructor since 1996. Originally trained in Integral Yoga ®, she holds a variety of yoga certifications including Flow yoga, and Sadhana Yoga Chi. Lisa has experience teaching people of all ages and levels of practice/proficiency. She used yoga to help heal her own body of injuries resulting from a car accident; and therefore specializes in modifying yoga to suit the needs and limitations of the student. Her classes range from the very gentle to the very challenging, thus offering something to anyone with an interest in learning yoga.

Cassie Pierce

Since finding Yoga upon moving to the mountains of North Carolina, Cassie has been practicing steadily for over 11 years. Upon completing her teacher training at the Triad Yoga Institute in 2009, she found that her passion for Yoga translated into a love of teaching. She credits her teacher Terry Brown for instilling an alignment-based focus rooted in the Iyengar style, a mind/body connection linked by the breath, and the appreciation of a flexible mind and an open heart.

Mary Hughes

Mary Hughes has been a Certified Johnny G Spin Instructor since March 1998. By day she's a systems analyst at UNCG, after-hours you can find her at the PurEnergy Spin Gym or on her famous, orange Italian road bike. She learned to swim at age 40, covers thousands of miles per year on a bicycle, hikes mountains, weight trains and brings all this to you in her lively classes. She is an accomplished photographer, and is addicted to travel.

Laureen is a wellness enthusiast and lifetime fitness student from upstate New York. She found yoga through her interest in nourishing the body through asana and and its relationship with mind and spirit.

She's been practicing yoga for several year and as received her 200 hour RYT certification from YogaStepsT. Her well-rounded training has fed her the knowledge and skill to provide a quality practice for ALL levels of yoga. This approach stems from the the yoga masters, historical methods and living a yogic lifestyle on and off the mat. Her objective is to guide the student by always using the breath to foster an awareness of the present. It is about a gentle balance in life- living in peace, good health and harmony with the greater whole.
